The University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communications (SOJC) is a creative, collaborative, and competetive space where students learn, grow, and thrive in their field. During my time with the SOJC Communications team, it was my job to find engaging stories that campuered the heart of the SOJC through writing, video, podcasts, and social media. It was a fast-paced, creative environment that pushed me to experiment with new formats and sharpen my instincts as a storyteller.
I wrote a wide range of content, from alumni features and faculty research profiles to student blogs. My article “The True Crime Genre is Popular, but is it Ethical?” became the most engaged-with piece on the brand’s site. On the socials side, I produced, filmed, and edited short-form video content for the SOJC’s various platforms, with many of my videos consistently reaching over 10,000 views. I also wrote copy for the brand accross accounts like Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads, and Facebook, adapting tone, style, and messaging for each audience.
